Store Update

I don't update this blog as much since I found a cure (see the previous post). But I did go in and update the product store with the items I am currently using to maintain and I'm doing well. Check out the store on the right side bar or click HERE.

As for an update on my regimen:

  1. Eating healthy a Paleo style diet
  2. Take Zymex instead of a Femdophilus, two a night every day
  3. I try to get as much exercise as possible or stay active
  4. Lost of water, pretty much the only thing in addition to tea that I drink
  5. Last is at least 7 hours of sleep.

What are you doing currently to maintain your battle, any recommend products you use?

It's your diet

Good news ladies. I have been BV free for almost a year. The trick that did it was my diet and a combination of using the right soap (Dove) when washing, and cotton tampons. Getting rest and reducing stress has also helped. As far as diet I switched to Paleo, it's a lifestyle change not a real diet. It includes eating healthy, no processed foods, reducing sugar and dairy. Give it a try! I signed up with www.PaleoPlan.com. Hope this helps some of you ladies out there. I have been sooooo happy ever since.

A PH Balanced Tampon

RePhresh has a new product out! A tampon that claims to balance your PH levles while on your period. To me this seems too good to be true and might be considering that only 25 women were tested for it's claims. For those of us suffering from BV it could be a good product if it works. During your period your PH level becomes very high and is out of the normal 3.5 to 4.5 range. This makes for perfect conditions for BV to form (bad bacteria attributed to out of whack PH levels). I found a great link that talked more about the product and claims HERE.

I persaonlly haven't tried the product yet but stumbled upon it at Bed Bath & Beyond in the beauty section. At the current moment I am trying all natrual cotton tampons without chemicals and whiteners (I never knew about chlorine being in tampons and pads, which could be another culprit of BV and yeast infections). We will see how it goes. I am a big fan of RePhresh's other prdoucts like Pro B and the PH gel. If you have tried the product and had good results let us know. I might break down and give it a try if my use of all natural cotton products doesn't work. I haven't had a bought of BV since I last wrote, but always worry that it will come back. I have my PH test kit ready for whenever I feel like it might be coming on. I leave you with the video advertisement of the product, till next time ladies.

A Possible Cure

It's been a while since I have posted to the blog, probably too long. Hopefully I have helped you ladies out there who have been experiencing the same problem. I decided that I needed to keep up the blog and get more information out to you all about BV. With that said let's get to it...

I came back from the doctor yesterday to be diagnosed with another bout of BV! I thought I had a mild yeast infection. I didn't have the usual symptoms of BV. I think the main reason it came back was because I wasn't consistently taking my pro biotic. This pro biotic has kept me from getting BV since the summer. My OBGYN (the best I have seen to date) said I have an over production of yeast (many things can set it off, PH levels out of whack, intercourse, being sick, not getting enough rest, stress, poor diet). He said it was normal in his practice and many women get it, he prescribes Rephresh before and after menstruating and taking Jarrow's femdophilus pro biotic daily. This seems to be the best defense. The pro biotic is made especially for vaginal and urinary tract health. I have been following this prescription up until the past month when I ran out of the pro biotic, which I will never let happen again. From here out I will keep stock of this supplement. In addition I will continue to eat healthy diet (limit sugar is a biggy) and make sure I get enough sleep and eliminate stress. I highly advise trying this. The pro biotic might be pricey at $20 and up, but it's your health we are talking about. You can find the pro biotic at your local health food store or online.

Give it a try and let me know how it works, I wish you the best. So far this is the only cure that I have found.

It's Been A While - Welcome Back

It's Baaaack! Darn it to heck.

I haven't had an update in about a year. Well bad news is I still have been getting yeast infections and had a horrible case that turned into a skin rash in adjacent to a good old fashion women's yeast infection. I was in unbearable pain with the itching, stinging, burning and everything else that comes with it.

Yes it's back, and never went aways from my findings. This blog has helped me a lot and made me think I might have an overall immune deficiency, thyroid problem, or overall yeast infection problem causing other ailments like hormonal problems, acne flair ups, and acne scaring. Check this site out and educate yourself: http://www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com/causeofyeastinfection.html.

Also a key note, don't trust what your doctor says, do your research!!! Once again I was told by my doctor, gynecologist, and nurses that women and some people just get them a lot (deal with it basically and don't wear pantie hose or thongs...WTF, that doesn't help). Ok we weren't born with all these issues they are a product of something not being right in our system / body. Turns out it could be a lot of things like antibiotics in our food, perscription drugs, and the good we eat. I am taking an overall aggressive approach from hear out. I am back on the Nature's Cure pills (I liked the Pro B better but it's $30 a bottle for 30 pills), off birth control (another possible culprit), taking wheat grass daily, going to a nutritionist, and changing my diet (trying to get off of sweets, carbs, and dairy which all feed the fungus or yeast infection), and managing stress levels with meditation and exercise. As for my skin I am seeing a dermatologist, and esthatician, plus I have made a doctors appointment to check my thyroid, for allergies, or an immune deficiency. Wish me luck on this round. I'll continue to keep you all posted on any possible cures.

Now is the test, let's see if it still has any affect even though I still get my period. Once I get it I'll be back on my three months of not having one. I will report back!

Birth Control to Fight BV

Hello fellow BV fighters. I have an update, birth control fighting BV. Yes birth control. I told you all that I was going to the doctor to see what was going on because my reocurring symptoms where back. Turns out I had a good old fashion yeast infeciton and not BV this time. I told her about all my research and she was very impressed. She told me what we all know, there is no cure for BV and no one knows what causes it. Too bad it's not a mans issues, if it was it would be cured in no time. She suggested trying birth control since I notice that I get it or yeast infections while on my mentrual cycle. I told you all in an earlier post that I was uneasy with this method. I'm not a big fan of birth control, altering your bodys make up. Well she took it further. She wanted me to take the pills in a way that would make me only have 4 cycles a year and limit the infections. She told me to try it and see if the infections stop, if so it proves what I thought, it is brought on by my cycle. I am going to go ahead and do it. I looked at the pros and cons and there were more pros: clear skin, less cycles, cut back on the cost of dealing with the cycles, no more BV?, less yeast infections, and best of all not constantly having to be perscribed antibiotics. I'll let you know how it goes. If anyone has given this method a try please let us know how it worked for you.

BVcures.com

Anyone given this a try? I totally forgot to post about this earlier on. It has been on my list of things to look into. I wanted to see if it was worth the $30.00 and if it worked. Please let me know, if I get a few extra dollars I'll look into it and review for you all. With that I better get to bed so I can make my doctors appointment.

It's baaack!!!

Well after having success with the Natures cure and repHresh my symptoms are back! I am off to the doctor. I have set an appointment with the gyno and not my primary care,I'm sick of being told I have BV to only be given antibiotics for the 100th time. I'm hoping they can she some light on this or help me understand it. I also plan on letting them know about all my research and products I have tried that work the best. I'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow night.

An alternative to repHresh Pro B

Over the weekend while working with my recent flair up I came across Natures Cure Yeast Control Capsules. WOW!!! They work and are much more cost friendly than $31 repHresh Pro B. You take one a day (a must for them to work). It has Lactobacilluos Acidophilus cells per each capsule which is a form of healthy bacteria that is needed for the ph and balance of the vagina.

I highly recommend this product, you can find it at grocery stores, drug stores, or good old Walmart. The price tag runs around $6.99 for a 30 day supply.

Try number one....

Occasionallly I will post new finds and all the items I am giving a try. Today is try number one. I will be trying the below following my latest bought of BV:

repHresh

every day this week a shot of wheat grass. Wheat grass has great detox properties and I used to take it years ago when working out. I saw great results in my skin, health, matobolism, and digestion.

Azo yeast, another great product that keeps the symptoms and discomfort of yeast infections at bay.

Tee Tree Oil, diluted with water applied with a cotton ball on the outside areas of the vagina.

RepHresh

In my research I have found mention that PH levels can be a cause of BV. Keeping your PH levels in balance could help or possibly solve your problem. I think that this might be the reason I have problems with BV. I have noticed that I get BV outbreaks during the end of my period when hormones and PH levels aren't at thier best. Products such as RepHresh have been designed to help get your PH levels in check. I will be trying RepHresh for the first time tonight since I am at the end of my menstural cycle and have a case of BV. I will report back my findings. In the mean time check out the product here, they also offer a pill, it's costly but might be another option. The pill taken daily is supposed to help control yest and bacteria levels in the vagina. I might give this a try on pay day since it runs about $32.00. As with this product and all I will report back my experiences.

Balance Activ - a new treatment for Bacterial Vaginosis

A great find on youtube! Very imformative, plus it gives options for treatment at home straight from a doctor.

What is BV?

First off BV is not a sexually transmitted diseas. To sum it up it's over growth of bad bacteria in the vagina that causes a fould oder, irretation, swelling, and itching. It can be mistaken for a yeast infection. Below is the best definition I found for BV from Wikipedia:

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common cause of vaginal infection. For grammatical reasons, some people prefer to call it vaginal bacteriosis[citation needed]. It is not generally considered to be a sexually transmitted infection[1] (see causes below). BV is caused by an imbalance of naturally occurring bacterial flora, and should not be confused with yeast infection (candidiasis), or infection with Trichomonas vaginalis (trichomoniasis) which are not caused by bacteria.

Hemena is a bacterial infection of the vagina. It's named after a bacterial build up on the hymen. Not to be confused with yeast infections, this disease can only occur in women. It's an unhealthy amount of bacteria infecting the membrane.

Now that you know what BV I ask you to continue to educate yourself and help others. Use this blog to do just that, spread the word!
